AN arts organisation is looking for volunteers to tell their stories relating to the miners’ strike.
One For All Productions is searching for women to come forward and share their stories of dispute, which affected thousands of families across east Durham and Hartlepool.
The company will be creating an oral history project and are keen to hear from mothers, wives and daughters affected by or involved in the strike from across the area.
Rachel Kirk, from One For All Productions, said: “The experience of the miners have been well documented, we are looking to record the stories and anecdotes of their wives, daughters, sisters and other women affected.
“These stories are an integral part of the region’s working class heritage and for this reason we feel it’s very important to have an oral record of this period.”
Once completed, the audio will form the basis for a play as well as being distributed to local libraries and museums.
