A PENSIONER needed hospital treatment after a small fire inside her home in the early hours today.
Crews from Peterlee and Seaham Fire Stations were called to a semi-detached house in Nesbit Road, Peterlee, at 6.45am.
There was damage to an armchair and crews used fans to clear the room of smoke.
The 82-year-old woman was taken to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, in Holdforth Road, for treatment for smoke inhalation.
Fire chiefs, who were alerted by an automatic fire alarm, say the cause is under investigation.
