A woman and a child were taken to hospital after a road crash outside a Hartlepool supermarket today.

Two crews from Hartlepool fire station were called to Marina Way at 12.40pm following a collision between two vehicles on the roundabout outside the Asda supermarket.

Fire fighters freed one person, who was trapped in one of the vehicles, before they were transported to hospital by ambulance.

A woman was transported to James Cook University Hospital with a suspected neck injury, with the child taken to North Tees Hospital for treatment.
