A WOMAN had to be cut from her car and taken to hospital after an alleged hit-and-run smash.
The 27-year-old woman needed to be cut out of her Honda Civic by firefighters after it was in a collision with a Renault Megane in Bridge Road, Shotton Colliery.
She was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City, by ambulance with suspected leg and hip injuries.
Police are trying to trace the driver of the Megane who fled the scene.
Durham Police say inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about the incident, at around 6.30pm on Saturday, is asked to ring crash investigators on 0345 6060365.
