A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after being cut from a car by firefighters.

Two crews from Peterlee Fire Station were called to Hamilton Street, in Horden, around 11.50am on Saturday after the car she was driving, a Renault Megane, was involved in a collision.

Fire crews spent an hour freeing her and she was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
