A WOMAN driver was taken to hospital after a two-car smash on a dual carriageway today.
The woman was driving a black Ford Focus car southbound along the A19 when it was involved in a collision with a silver Peugeot 206 driven by a man at 7.55am.
Police and ambulance crews went to the scene of the crash - near to the Norton and Billingham turn-off - and the woman, who was complaining of back pain, was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for checks.
The vehicles were left blocking the outside lane of the dual carriageway causing rush-hour traffic to build up.
The two vehicles and debris were moved from the road by 9.46am when police say the traffic started to move freely again.
