Women's fitness sessions

A NEW health scheme has been launched to help people to get fit.

Women between the ages of 16 and 25 are being encouraged to take up fun dance, netball and boxing-based fitness classes to get fit in the new year.

The Active Women New Year's Exercise Programme, run by Durham County Council, has been launched in the Easington district this week.

A schedule of activities will be running throughout the week at different venues in gyms, community centres, schools and colleges in the Easington area and at a reduced cost.

Sessions are aimed at women aged between 16 and 25. But there is room for older women to join in with a range of dance fitness classes suitable for the over-60s.

Organisers say sessions are perfect for those who want to get active and meet new people, and anyone with any level of fitness can join in.
