A DEDICATED town man completed a gruelling bike ride alongside his work colleagues in support of two charities.

Mick Aves, who works as a supervisor for repairs and maintenance provider Morrison was one of eight riders who took part in the 142-mile ride from the firm’s office in Gateshead to Leeds.

Stephen Wood, a bricklayer from Horden, also took part in the ride, which raised £450.

That money will now be split between homeless charity Shelter and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Neil Dixon, regional director for Morrison North East, said: “Well done to the team for their superb efforts in undertaking the bike ride and raising funds to support these two worthwhile charities.”

The challenge was one of a number of bike rides completed by Morrison’s employees nationwide.

In total colleagues covered 903 miles raising more than £4,000 for charity.
