PEOPLE will have the chance to question prospective parliamentary candidates for next month’s General Election during a special event.
A Question Time-style event is being held next week at Hartlepool Cricket Club where candidates hopeful of becoming town MP will face a quizzing.
There are many issues that are at Government level that residents never get an opportunity to address in order to make a judgement call on who they will put forward as MP.Fran Johnson, Park Residents’ Association
The event has been organised by Park Residents’ Association, but bosses say tickets are going fast if people want to take part in the “unique” event.
Association chairman Fran Johnson, who will be chairing the event, said: “Park Residents’ Association members have submitted the questions and there has been a lot of interest in that area.
“We will have these questions and give time for them to give robust answers but we will take a couple of supplementary questions.
“We did it because we felt there are many issues that are at Government level that residents never get an opportunity to address in order to make a judgement call on who they will put forward as MP.
“I think it’s a unique opportunity because how often do we get all these people together.”
It is being held on Wednesday, April 8 from 7.15pm.
Association chiefs say there are a limited number of tickets available.
Prospective candidates including Ukip’s Phillip Broughton, Conservative Richard Royal, Labour’s Iain Wright, independent Stephen Picton, Green candidate Michael Holt and bosses are still working to determine whether Lib Dem candidate Hilary Allen will be attending.
Fran added: “There are limited number of tickets for residents of the old Park ward boundary/conservation area. People cvan apply by emailing email@example.com or ring 07547289108 on a first come first served basis.”
