Wrestling show set for centre

A NIGHT of gripping grappling action is on the way to a leisure centre when a wrestling group celebrates its second anniversary.

The North East Wrestling Society (NEWS) is hoping for its seventh sell-out show in a row at Peterlee Leisure Centre.

Promoter Paul Fahey, from Peterlee, said: “The Peterlee fans turn up in large numbers every time we host a show and make it an easy decision to keep coming back.”

Next week’s bill will see NEWS British Champion El Ligero defending his championship belt against unbeaten number one contender Lowthian.

The evening will also feature television star Douglas Williams, who appears on Challenge TV for American wrestling giant TNA.

He will face former WWE developmental wrestler Rampage Brown.

Tickets are available from the leisure centre or by calling 07712 575820.

Doors open at 6.30pm on Friday, May 25, and the show starts at 7pm.
