AN X-FACTOR star will switch on a shopping centre’s Christmas lights.

Kerrianne Cavelle, who made it to the judges’ houses round of the ITV talent show, will do the honours at the lights switch-on at Castle Dene Shopping Centre, in Peterlee.

The lights will be turned on at 5.45pm on Friday, November 21, but the fun runs from 4.30pm-6pm.

Kerrianne, 23, is a former student of Nadine’s Academy of Dance and Performing Arts in Hartlepool, and shoe shop worker.

Simon Cowell had famously rang her boss to say Kerrianne wouldn’t be returning to work.

Three lucky pupils from Horden’s Cotsford Infants School will also be joining Kerrianne in the big switch-on.

They will be chauffeur-driven in a limousine to the studio of Sun FM, which is hosting the night, where they will chat on air before being ferried back to the centre.

Kerianne will be performing, as well as various other acts, including Danielle Parker, who won the shopping centre’s Next Big Thing talent competition.

A spokesman for the centre said: “Kerianne is quite popular and a local lass, so I think she will go down quite well.”
