AN X Factor star says he can’t wait to get to Hartlepool to take in the town’s sights.
Jonathan Ansell, 29, who shot to fame with pop opera group G4 on the X Factor, performs at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, on Thursday, September 8, at 7.30pm.
But he’s not just coming to town to entertain the crowd.
He told the Hartlepool Mail: “I grew up on the coast and I always love going to places where you get that fresh air.
“I always make sure I get to places early so I can take in the atmosphere and the location and really get a feel of it.”
His Hartlepool performance is the first stopping point on an eight-gig Autumn tour which will also take in towns in Surrey, Suffolk, Shropshire and East Yorkshire.
“It is going to be great fun and I am really looking forward to it,” said Jonathan who added: “I have never been to Hartlepool before so this will be my debut.”
He described his show as “having an intimate vibe. It is an opportunity for myself to perform in a different space, up close and personal.”
The show will see BBC radio presenter Paul Harris on stage with Jonathan as he takes the audience through stories, traditional songs and some new numbers.
“It will give me the opportunity to sing a variety of musical favourites,” he said.
His tour means plenty of travelling but Jonathan added: “I have an eight-and-a-half-month-old daughter and it is important to get home and spend time with my family.”
Despite that, he admits to loving UK tours and explained: “Audiences in London tend to be more reserved and the further you get away from there, people tend to go with the show much more.”
Jonathan is the first name on a packed Autumn and Winter programme of entertainment at the Town Hall Theatre which also includes Eurovision favourites Scooch performing in a show called Scooch Do Glee from 7pm on Friday, September 23.
But they are only two of the highlights in a busy programme which also includes classical concerts, tribute bands, monthly meetings of a comedy club and dance school shows.
All tickets for the season are now on sale and the council is also hoping to launch an online ticket facility this autumn.
