A YOUNG dancer has taken the British Championships by storm to lift a top award.
Olivia Beavis, nine, who represents Watson’s Academy of Dance in Park Road, Hartlepool, has returned to the town with a shining trophy and a beaming smile after winning first prize in the Modern Section of the championships in Blackpool where she competed against 52 other hopefuls.
Her mum Debbie Beavis, from Hartlepool, told the Mail: “I am over the moon for Olivia. She lives and breathes dancing.
“She will get out of bed and dance all the way through the day just trying to get her sequence right for the competition.
“She is so passionate about her competitions and wants to win so much I can’t believe it.
“She loves the sport and I am so pleased that her hobby has turned into something that she thoroughly enjoys.”
After the success of the British Championships where Olivia also came third in the song category and fourth in the ballet form, Debbie told how she can relax and watch.
She added: “I love watching the dancing and so does Olivia. We watched the gymnastics and diving in the Olympics and feel really inspired.
“It is amazing how well she has done and really pushes herself to do better.
“I just like to sit back and watch my daughter do what she loves.”
