MUSIC lovers are in for a treat this weekend when some of the finest young musicians showcase their work in a feast of live music.

A Celebration of Music will feature local young musicians who this year will receive support from the town’s Preston Simpson and Sterndale Young Musicians’ Trust.

On the bill are Dominic Barberi, Paul Sild, James Slimings, Andrew McAllister, Stacey Powers, Nicola Sim and Amber Reeve in a varied programme including cello, piano, guitar and vocal pieces.

The event will be held at the Town Hall Theatre, in Hartlepool, on Saturday.

Special guest performers will be the celebrated Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, under the direction of David Gibson.

The event will help raise funds for the trust, which provides financial support to develop the musical talents of young people aged 15 to 25 who either live in or have other strong links with Hartlepool.

Chris Simmons, chairman of the trust, said: “This is the third annual concert featuring the very best of Hartlepool’s musical talent performing to a professional standard.”

The awards will be presented by the chair of Hartlepool Borough Council, Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher.

The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost £10, or £8 for concessions.

Tickets are available from Hartlepool Art Gallery and Tourist Information Centre, in Church Square, or by calling (01429) 890000.
