Young people to help shape the future of their services

YOUNGSTERS are being urged to find out more about the services available to them throughout Hartlepool.

A fun-packed event which is taking place on Thursday, June 2, at Mill House Leisure Centre, Raby Road, from 1pm-4pm, is open to people aged 13-19.

The event is designed to let people know what is happening across town, and to help them shape the future of events and activities available to them.

The free activities on offer include a rodeo bull, dance sessions, henna tattoo artists, music groups and arts and crafts.

There will also be a range of stands from a host of organisations including Integrated Youth Support Services, Connexions, Hart Gables and the West View Project.

The event is being organised by Hartlepool Council’s Integrated Youth Support Services (IYSS).

Juliette Ward, IYSS participation worker, said: “We are currently consulting with young people in Hartlepool on ways to make teenagers more aware of all the activities and help which are available to them, and to get more of them involved in planning and arranging services and events.

“We have had some great feedback so far, among which was the suggestion that we should have a promotional day which was both informative and fun, So we’re putting that into practice with next week’s event.

“Young people should definitely come along throughout the afternoon, they’ll be sure of a warm welcome.”
