LOVE is in the air for this group of romantic youngsters.

Children at Cheeky Monkeys Nursery, in Mapleton Road, Hartlepool, marked Valentine’s Day by taking part in a number of romance-themed activities.

Staff celebrated the occasion by organising Someone I Love day.

The children took the opportunity to make their very own love wands so they could grant wishes for their loved ones.

The affectionate youngsters at the nursery, based at the Avondale Centre, spent all day yesterday enjoying specially-organised craft activities – and the fun and games were set to continue today.

Carly Fields, nursery manager, said: “We organised Someone I Love day so the children can understand that they can love more than one person.

“The children all really enjoyed it, they were very enthusiastic and understood exactly why we were doing it.”

The creative youngsters also made some cakes to take home along with their wands while love songs were due to played in the nursery all day today.

The nursery has only been open around five weeks so staff said it was the first real occasion for the youngsters to enjoy.

Carly added: “This is definitely something we will be doing every year from now.”

“The children all took part with huge smiles on their faces.

“I think we enjoyed it as much as they did.”
