FURTHER to my recent letter about Hartlepool United’s current problems (Mail, December 31), I would just like to comment on the New Year’s Day match at Victoria Park against Preston North End.
In the first half, despite conceding the only goal of the game, Pools just about edged it.
The second half unfortunately showed exactly why action is needed now to save further embarrassment to the club.
The supporters behind the goal voiced their opinions quite strongly and loudly and these are the very supporters that may well stop supporting if no positive action is taken.
That would increase the financial pressure on the club.
Should we fall through the trap door into League Two, as seems almost inevitable, the supporters would be reluctant to part with their hard-earned money to watch the same players in a lower league.
The decline would continue and this is something nobody wants to see.
