Councillors changing their minds

Have your say

I’VE noticed that you have received quite a few letters regarding the University Hospital of Hartlepool, and the present arrangements.

In a discussion on November 4, the subject came up as to how much the annual cost of the management running the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust (excluding doctors and nurses) is each year?

It must be a tidy sum as there appear to be quite a few “chiefs”.

It would be very interested to know.

After all, the money they have spent up to now on consultations and so on, plus the salaries of all these people, would have enabled us to attract some doctors to our own hospital.

The other point I would like to raise is the increase in cost for the ambulances that appear to be travelling the countryside since they closed our own ambulance depot, in Elwick Road.

There’s not a day goes by without the sound of ambulances going down to Hartlepool with lights flashing and sirens sounding.

Finally, it is very interesting to note that quite a few Hartlepool Borough Councillors have now changed their minds and would like services back in Hartlepool, although initially they were supporting the new Wynyard hospital.

I do wish people would also stop saying that we are all in favour of these changes.

Many of us are definitely not!
