On June 11 I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Burn Valley Residents’ Association’s celebration of the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

It was an amazing day with well over 100 people attending.

The adults and children had almost non-stop entertainment from beginning to end.

Face-painting, dancing, singing, magic acts , goody bags – and a magnificent range of party food was also available.

Full credit to Carol Lord and her team for putting on such a fabulous event.

The amount of work that these volunteers put into events of this kind is simply breath-taking to behold.

Meticulous planning, lots of hours of physical preparation, delivering the event on the day, and tidying up afterwards.

All takes time and commitment, and Carol and her team clearly have that in abundance.

The sense of community at this event was very powerful.

It just goes to show what can be achieved by passionate, dedicated people who are driven to deliver.

An example to us all of what can be achieved, when we decide to make a difference.
