Tom Watson’s acceptance speech following his election as deputy leader of the Labour Party was masterful.
We then saw a truly awful performance straight afterwards by Jeremy Corbyn on the announcement of the Labour leadership contest result. The contrast was astonishing.
Corbyn reminded me of Iain Duncan Smith when he was leader of the Conservative Party.
Corbyn also put me in mind of Ming Campbell’s terrible performances at Prime Minister’s Questions for the short time he was Liberal Democrat leader.
But how exactly are either Watson or Corbyn going to end the “bully boy and jobs for the boys” culture in some of our local Labour-run county and town halls?
Now they have so many new members is it not a golden opportunity for Labour to get some fresh people in office?
