NO doubt Iain Wright will be well chuffed after his meeting with Jeremy Hunt (Mail, March 4).
It is my belief that the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust will do absolutely nothing before the General Election, hoping that Labour will win, and Wynyard will go ahead.
No doubt our MP and the relevant Hartlepool Borough councillors, up for election in May, will think this will automatically get them re-elected.
This is the MP who held a protest meeting when Wynyard funding was cut, and the councillors who wrote to the Health Secretary to tell him that Wynyard hospital is what the people of Hartlepool want.
There is no doubt, in my view, that Mr Hunt will have been aware of this.
Now our MP and councillors will have two months to tell us how they deserve our votes, and how much they will do to ensure that services are restored to the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
• Mr Holliday’s letter was submitted before Monday’s story revealed that Labour leader Ed Miliband could not guarantee that a future Labour Government would support the £300m Wynyard hospital proposal.
