Regarding the tactics to build houses on the University Hospital of Hartlepool site (Mail, April 18).

The site is paid for and needs to be kept for extending the hospital.

The town is growing in population, with the building programme for Hartlepool and as it serves east Durham.

It is not long ago that Hartlepool Borough Council sent a vote of no confidence in Alan Foster and the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

Once the trust gets planning permission it will set a precedence for the whole site.

How long will it be before the hospital goes?
