LETTER: Selling off Euro Tunnel

THIS Government has announced it is selling the stake we own in Euro Tunnel to a private buyer.

Why aren’t these shares being offered to the British public and Euro Tunnel workers instead of through a privatisation scheme of the kind we had for the Post Office?

We, the British taxpayers, have subsidised Euro Tunnel for decades.

Is it fair to sell this business without us having a chance to buy it back for ourselves?

Even under the “first past the post” system David Cameron did not win an overall majority of MPs in the General Election five years ago.

So why does he think he has a mandate to take this irrevocable step in the dying days of this coalition government?
