I AM a Charlton supporter and what a quirk of the fixture list that we’ve played you on the last day of the season for two seasons running.
Obviously we had other things on our mind last Saturday, but what a privilege it was to have Hartlepool United as our last opponents yet again – with your wonderful fans.
Last year they came immaculately attired as Oompa Loompas.
This season we had the Smurfs invade us.
It’s what football should be about – fun and friendship instead of hatreds.
The only down side is that we won’t play you again next season.
I think most Charlton fans would dearly love to see you gain promotion so we can meet again.
My Charlton friends and I have greatly enjoyed our trips to Hartlepool over the past three seasons, as I think have most of Charlton’s away support.
Not only do you have the most original fans in English football but you have a very impressive town with your harbour and marina plus the endearing legend of the monkey.
