New bus service is a success
In reply to the letter from reader Adam Paul Sanderson (Echo February 3) about the X24 not stopping at Washington, you already have an express bus, the frequent X1, going from The Galleries to Gateshead and Newcastle.
For the past six to seven years, passengers in the north of Sunderland have been deprived of a decent bus service to Newcastle after Go North East took the X2 off then ignored the wishes of hundreds of people who signed the petition against this move.
We had to make do with getting the 2/2A to The Galleries, and that went all round the houses, and then join the queue for the X1 to Newcastle.
The new service cuts about half an hour off my journey.
My friends and I are delighted and would highly recommend the Stagecoach X24.
