I know there have been a lot of bad reports lately about the lack of standards in care and nursing homes.
Unfortunately you rarely hear the good reports.
So I would like to let readers know myself.
The care home I am referring to is Brierton Lodge, Brierton Lane, Hartlepool.
The quality of care the residents receive in there is first class.
The staff are very hard-working, from the cleaners to carers and nurses.
In my eyes, it is very professionally run, with good, nourishing meals for residents.
Spotless and welcoming, nothing is ever too much trouble for staff.
I would like to thank each and every one of them who took care of a close friend of mine while spending the later time of his life there.
By the way, if you see carers in there sitting down resting, don’t assume they are skiving.
They are generally having their short, well-earned breaks or doing paperwork.
Caring is a very hard but rewarding profession.
I know because I have done it, so please don’t judge all care homes as the same.
