The need to take chances

Have your say

The Republican candidates, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, are still in with a chance of beating Donald Trump for the nomination for President of the United States.

To do so they must reconcile their differences now.

They no longer have the time to wait until they’ve won their own home states in the primaries or to fight Super Tuesday as individuals.

Trump is still failing to win an overall majority of the popular vote in the primaries but his support is rising.

If they wait any longer his support might become greater than 50%.

Jeb Bush and the rest need to get behind one of these two men.

Rubio is just ahead and Cruz needs to take account of that.

Ted Cruz must make up his mind now or his decision may be irrelevant.

David Miliband lost his chance to be Prime Minister when he didn’t run for the Labour leadership against Gordon Brown.

With a new young fresh leader, instead of, as I view it, a man exhausted by a decade of being Chancellor, Labour may have won the 2010 election.

Sometimes politicians need to take chances.
