Time to act

The Government has once again said that it is committed to passing the so-called Alan Turing law.

While it is good to see that it continues to support this principle, it is time for it to take action and actually push the Bill through Parliament – a vote that will no doubt be successful.

Around 49,000 were sentenced under these archaic gross indecency laws.

Some men like Turing have received an official pardon. Thousands of others have not.

While it’s totally reasonable that people have differing opinions on issues such as gay marriage, surely we can all agree that nobody should be criminalised for their sexuality.
