Here we are, just over a week after the Brexit vote and the sky has not fallen in.

The speculators have made some money and lost some money but there is food in the shops, money in the bank and we are not begging on the streets.

Strangely, very much as the leave side said would happen.

So we were right to show disdain for the big business and big money when they said otherwise, and we are right to leave the EU.

What we need to do now is to get on with it and ensure this country is a better place for all, but especially the disadvantaged in our society.

Through bad governments over many shades of political control we have plenty of them.

They, along with many others, have found their voice.

Now that they have broken their silence I believe they will not be silenced again.

Many people I spoke to over the campaign told me they had not voted for years and, in one case, only once in her 60 years.

But she did on June 23 and I hope will do so again.

She has exercised her democratic right and I hope she enjoyed it.
