Zip wire challenge to raise vital funds for Stroke charity

IN a bid to raise awareness and hundreds of pounds for charity Christopher Hunt’s nearest and dearest are set to zip wire across the River Tyne.

Christopher’s partner Karl Owens and sister Stephanie Hunt will jump off The Baltic, in Gateshead, and zip wire 950ft across the river to the quayside in Newcastle in aid of The Stroke Association.

The pair have already raised more than £1,000 between them and they hope to raise as much as possible between now and the charity challenge on Sunday, April 29.

The Stroke Association is the UK’s leading charity for stroke and they have provided help and support to Christopher as he battles back to fitness.

The charity has organised the zip wire fundraising event, which has an 80’s theme.

Karl and Stephanie are determined to look the part and will be wearing Frankie Says Slide T-shirts as they make the descent across the river.

Karl said: “We haven’t done anything like this before but we are both really looking forward to it.

“It should be a great day.”

The pair have received sponsorship from friends, family, work colleagues and customers at Christopher’s mum’s salon, Trio Hair Fashions, in Stockton Road, Hartlepool.

Christopher said: “I am very proud of them both and the money goes to a great cause.

“I would like to thank everybody that has donated so far, it is really appreciated.”
