KIND-HEARTED women swapped their dancing shoes for walking boots and raised cash for a town charity.
Zumba Crazee, made up of 23 women who take part in a Zumba class every week in the town, took part in Hartlepool & District Hospice’s Moonlight Walk this year and collectively raised an impressive £1,867.
Zumba instructor Christine Patton led the group which took part in the event for the second consecutive year.
She said: “It goes without saying that we had a good time.
“It’s great to get members together socially but even more so to raise such a whopping amount which exceeded all expectations.
“We would like to thank anyone who contributed by way of sponsorship.
“Personally I would like to say a huge thank you to the girls who walked and made our contribution possible.”
Zumba group members were among 330 women who took part in this year’s Moonlight Walk, which started and finished at Hartlepool Maritime Experience.
Hospice staff say this year’s event, which was the fifth annual walk, is expected to raise around £26,000 for the Wells Avenue-based charity.
Greg Hildreth, hospice events fundraiser, said, “This is a tremendous result.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks on behalf of patients and staff at the hospice and congratulate the members of Zumba Crazee on a great job.
“Positive feedback from our events is always very rewarding, it is lovely to know that the group had such a good evening and were so successful with their fundraising.”
Christine said the Zumba group is already looking forward to next year’s walk and anyone interested in joining in with the classes or the walk with the group should call 07764 995311.
