WITH the transfer deadline closing on Monday night, there is expected to be more Sunderland activity over the weekend.
Roy Keane is in the market for a left-back and has been linked with a renewed interest in former Sunderland star George McCartney.

Sunderland have already had a £4.5m bid for the Northern Ireland defender tunred down this summer and McCartney has indicated an unwillingness to return to the Stadium of Light.

But West Ham are having a few problems at the moment with boss Alan Curbishley's job looking decidely unstable – and McCartney might yet re-think his own position.

Keane has also been linked with Manchester City's Michael Ball but will have other irons in the fire too.

Others could also follow Etuhu out of the club.

Hull City and Charlton Athletic are interested in Paul McShane.

Addicks boss Alan Pardew said: "There has been some interest between ourselves and Sunderland. I think Paul is a good player and there will be a decision on him, perhaps in this window.

Another Championship side, Preston, are also believed to be interested in taking striker Anthony Stokes on a season's loan.
