SUNDERLAND defender Paul McShane has joined Hull City on a season-long loan.

The Irishman was unlikely to play much part for Roy Keane's Black Cats this season, and he will relish the chance of first-team football in the Premier League.

But the 22-year-old faces a daunting task at the Tigers, who were crushed 5-0 by visitors Wigan today.

McShane signed for Sunderland from West Brom in July 2007 and played 21 times last term before fracturing a knee cap at the end of the campaign/

McShane will not be able to play against Sunderland throughout the loan.
