AMANDA Coulson today set her sights on title glory at home and abroad.
The Hartlepool golden girl is to defend her Amherst Comet Cup in Turkey next month which will immediately be followed by her bid to win England's prestigious ABA Championship.

And Coulson will go into the two big tournaments full of optimism after getting back on the victory trail.

The 25-year-old beat Gry Espensen at Seaton Carew as the Catholic Club defeated a Denmark Select team in their boxing challenge last night.

Coulson took time to warm up, but when she did she turned on the style and the power to stop the Dane in round three.

"It's nice to be back to winning ways," she said.

"I've not boxed since December, so I needed that bout last night.

"I have had some really great sparring in our gym with Gareth Roberts and Alan Robinson, but nothing beats the reality of the fight itself.

"I've got Turkey first on June 9 and then it's the ABAs on June 21.

"It's going to be a really big month for me and I can't wait.

"I got the gold at the Amherst Comet Cup last May and I think there are big expectations this time as well, though from others not me.

"I don't want to make any predictions but of course I want to win.

"I'll go there feeling fantastic after last night's victory and I can't wait.

"There are six weeks to go until Turkey and if training keeps going as well as it has been I'll be in mint condition.

"After that tournament, I'm back here for the ABAs, though I'm not sure whether I'll be getting a straight final or have to box a semi.

"But the Amherst Comet Cup is what I must concentrate on first."

It was a night when Catholic Club's stars shone.

Comeback man Mark Smith, the talented Stuart Buckley and the teenage sensation Callum Winton all joined Coulson on the winner's rostrum as the Hartlepool club defeated the Denmark side 4-1 at the Mayfair Centre.

"It was nice to be boxing in Hartlepool again," said Coulson. "It was a good night and there were some great wins."
