HARTLEPOOL United's on-fire frontmen are ready to gun down League One big shots Leeds United.
Pools go into Saturday's mouth-watering clash at Elland Road on the back of another goal-laden display last night – this time firing three past Chesterfield to cruise into round two of the Johnstone's Paints Trophy.
A brilliant double from James Brown and a stunning David Foley cannon took their goal tally to seven in four days and 15 from seven matches so far this season.
With fellow frontmen Richard Barker, Ian Moore and Joel Porter all off the mark for the season already, Pools head to Leeds full of confidence as well as firepower, according to Victoria Park boss Danny Wilson.
"There was a question labelled against us earlier in the season about where the goals would come from," Wilson said.
"Well, they are coming from everywhere at the moment.
"We have strikers looking sharp and in amongst the goals – they are looking confident.
"We had four strikers on the park on Saturday (in the 4-1 win over Oldham) and then again last night.
"Sometimes you have to play to your strengths, if you have that threat you have to use it.
"We had some good performances last night and there will be some thinking to do for Saturday."
He added: "Irrespective of the side put out last night I expected us to win the game and for some of the other guys to show what they are capable of.
"They managed to do that and they will be relishing the prospect of playing at the weekend.
"Saturday will take care of itself. That is what we are in the game for, to go in front of 30,000 people and it would be great to do that every week.
"This is one the players will enjoy."
Wilson hailed strike duo Foley and Brown, who are now adding a final product to the undoubted potential they have shown in the past.
Brown has now netted in three of his last four – already halfway to his total for last season – and Foley added his third of the season to go with the double he blasted past Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup.
"James is so difficult to pick up where he plays in that pocket," Wilson said.
"If we can get the ball to him he can cause problems and he knows how to get goals.
"David is picking up things very quickly, just as James is.
"I think those players can cause anyone problems, you saw them do it to top teams like AZ Alkmaar and Newcastle in pre-season.
"They are big talents, that is for sure."
Wilson was also delighted with his side's professional display against the battling Spireites.
Pools were a class above the League Two outfit despite making five changes to the side from the weekend.
But the boss was less than chuffed with the late consolation goal they conceded which gave the hosts a glimmer of hope towards the end.
"We were a bit disappointed to concede and for 20 minutes we were a bit sloppy," he said.
"But that is a minor complaint because we have gone away from home and produced a terrific performance and won by three goals.
"We could have had more but 3-0 was great, 1-0 would have been good at a place as tough at Saltergate."
