Rain delays frustrate Robbo
SEATON Carew star Simon Robinson suffered a frustrating first round in the AGF-Allianz EurOpen de Lyon after torrential rain severely limited play in France.
Play was delayed for four hours yesterday morning and when the golfers got out on the course, they were not out for long as the heavens opened and caused a five-hour break.
Robinson made it through 12 holes in one over par before play ended on day one.
The 26-year-old, a winner in Finland last month, enjoyed some good moments, birdying holes 14, 17, 18 and three yesterday.
But, with conditions far from easy, there were three blue figures on his scorecard – a bogey at 12 and double bogeys at the par three 16 and second holes.
