GRAEME Storm finished the golf season in a creditable 50th place on the PGA European Tour Order of Merit.
But the final tournament of the season, the prestigious Volvo Masters at Valderrama, was an event he will want to forget in a hurry.

The 30-year-old Hartlepool golfer finished equal last at the famous Spanish course on a painful 24 over par alongside South Africa's Charl Schwartzel and Jeev Singh of India.

The opening two rain-affected days were disastrous for Storm when he carded scores of 77 and 79.

He seemed to get back on track with a level-par 71 on Saturday, but yesterday proved another tough day with his worst round of the weekend. His 81 included a triple bogey, two double bogeys and four single bogeys with only one birdie.

His total of 308 put him 32 strokes behind the winner and new Order of Merit number one, Søren Kjeldsen of Denmark.

But Storm did finish the season in 50th after winning £472,561 in prize money.
