ARNISON IN TIGER HUNT
PAUL ARNISON could make his return at Hull City tonight as manager Chris Turner looks to boost his depleted squad after Saturday's dour draw with Plymouth.
Turner has very little options for change with seven first teamers out through injury but it is likely he will give the former Newcastle United right back his chance against Brian Little's side.
The Tigers are currently sitting three points above Pools in 13th spot gaining a point on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at home to Southend.
Turner knows he has a tough job on his hands with confidence low after two previous away defeats at Rochdale and Brighton but the manager remains optimistic.
He said: "We are not just inconsistent in the league at the moment, we are inconsistent from one half to the next and the lads know they have got to put it right.
"It is frustrating for everyone as the players really put the work in in training but sometimes things don't go for them on the pitch.
"We need to make sure we keep our concentration and don't make silly mistakes.
"Saturday was disappointing as one or two players really did not play to their full potential.
"But my hands are tied at the moment with regards to changes but hopefully we can bring a few new faces in."
The Pools boss flew to Norway on Sunday in the hope of bringing back another inspired signing in the mould of loan legend Jan Ove Pedersen to boost his squad.
The Scandinavians finished their season at the weekend with SK Brann Bergen achieving a Champions League qualifier's spot when they finished second in the Elite League with a 4-0 victory over Molde.
Turner took in the game in the hope of bringing in one or two fringe players in to help out Hartlepool.
He said: "I know Jan Ove is highly thought of at this club but he was a bit of a one-off.
"We are looking at one or two fringe players who might be interested in coming here to further themselves over the close season."
MICK WADSWORTH saluted Laurent Charvet as the Frenchman prepared to seal his 2m move to Manchester City.
Charvet almost played for United against Everton on Saturday, only to all but conclude his switch to Maine Road late on Friday evening.
United risked losing Charvet for nothingundre the Bosman ruling in the summer and Wadsworth said: "Laurent has done remarkably well for us in the past year, and we were not showing him the door.
"But the fact is his contract runs out in the summer and we have right backs in abundance."
