COMEBACK star Chris Burton hopes a victory in the “battle of Hastings” will set him up to win the war at cruiserweight.
The Neil Fannan and Dave Garside fighter has come out of “semi-retirement” and shed more than two stones to slim down from heavyweight.
The 30-year-old will kick off his campaign on Sunday September 18 when he fights Hastings Rasani at Houghton-le-Spring.
Burton is hoping victory at Summer Rumble 2 will set him up with a tilt at John Lewis Dickinson’s Northern Area title later this year and then a challenge at Rob Norton’s British and Commonwealth belts further down the line.
“I feel great and can’t wait to get in there next Sunday,” said Burton, who has not fought since outpointing Bulgaria’s Yavor Marinchev in Middlesbrough in January 2009.
“The weight has dropped off me and I’ve never been fitter in my whole life, I feel like a new man.”
