Boxing boss buzzing about Michael Hunter’s comeback

EXCITED promoter Phil Jeffries “can’t wait” to lead the return of professional boxing to Hartlepool.

No pro show has been staged in town since Michael Hunter missed out in his bid to become IBF World super-bantamweight champion at the Borough Hall in November 2006.

And almost five and a half years later, Jeffries, and associate and friend Neil Fannan, end the wait for the return of the noble art to the famous Headland venue, a week on Sunday.

Hunter will again be the catalyst – the 33-year-old making his comeback in the seven-bout bill.

“I’m buzzing,” said Jeffries. “This place is going to be rocking a week on Sunday.”

Phil talks to SportMail’s Martin Dunn about the show.
