AMANDA Coulson must see off a young pretender to keep her Olympic flame burning.
The Hartlepool boxer meets her Great Britain team-mate Ruth Raper in the ABA Championship final at Mansfield Civic Theatre tomorrow.
A defeat for Coulson at the Nottinghamshire venue could scupper her hopes of winning a place at London 2012.
And the 28-year-old told SportMail she is bracing herself for an “epic” encounter with the Londoner.
Raper is the outsider for GB’s lightweight spot at the Olympics – the battle would appear to be between Coulson and her arch-rival Natasha Jonas.
But the gifted youngster, eight years Coulson’s junior, could thrust her name into the frame if she shocked the title favourite tomorrow.
“Ruth’s on the squad with me,” said the Catholic Club fighter.
“She’s come on a treat since she joined up with GB and I’m expecting an epic bout to be honest.”
