HARTLEPOOL and East Durham boxing is set to welcome an “exciting” new addition to the professional ranks.
Big-hitting Horden Sportsman ABC star Greg O’Neil is to sign for Hartlepool’s Gus Robinson Developments team and hopes to make his debut in the big Michael Hunter comeback show on Sunday, March 25.
O’Neil has established himself on the amateur circuit as an rough and ready, up and at ’em fighter, with knock-outs something of a speciality.
Gus Robinson Developments head coach Peter Cope, pictured with O’Neil, has been working with the 20-year-old in the West View Road gym and is looking forward to unleashing him into the pro game.
“Greg excites me – he’s a fantastic puncher,” Cope told SportMail.
“He’s possibly the best pound-for-pound puncher I have trained.
“Certainly, I’ve never had a 20-year-old who can hit the way Greg hits.
“I think he is a great prospect, purely because of how powerful he is.”
