SAVANNAH Marshall’s wait to challenge for a place at London 2012 is almost over.

The seventh Women’s World Championship opens in China today with the opening ceremony and welcome dinner.

The boxers, who have arrived from 79 countries, will weigh in tomorrow morning in Qinhuangdao ahead of the draw and the start of the preliminary rounds in the evening.

Marshall is seeded sixth in the middleweight category which means she will avoid her fellow big guns until the quarter-final stage.

A place in the last eight should be good enough to clinch her ticket to London, though if there are more than four Europeans in the quarters the qualification process becomes a little more complicated.
