HARTLEPOOL’S newest club will stage their first show at the home of town boxing this Saturday.
The Borough Hall will be the venue for Hartlepool Elite Academy’s debut event (start 1pm).
Hartlepool Elite, founded in 2011, are thrilled to be showcasing their bright, young squad of boxers.
Paul Barnes, one of the driving forces behind the club and coach, told SportMail: “It’s going to be an exciting day of boxing.
“Our club boxers will be matched against boxers from the powerful Northwest divisions.
“It is a great challenge with boxers coming over from Liverpool and Manchester as well as Henry Wharton’s club in Yorkshire.
“We wanted our first show to be at the Borough Hall which has been the scene for many great professional and amateur bills.
“It’s a fantastic venue with a brilliant atmosphere.
“We’re hoping people will come along and support us and be part of a great sporting day for all.
“Hopefully with an enthusisastic crowd in getting behind the boxers the atmosphere will be electric.
“We’ll have the buglers there to take the boxers into the ring and we hope people will enjoy our first show.
“Everyone at Hartlepool Elite Boxing Academy is buzzing and we’re really looking forward to Saturday.”
Elite include a number of new talent, including female fighter, Shelby Brazell.
The 16-year-old is the younger sister of former Catholic Club star, Shaunna.
Shelby won on her debut last month in Manchester when she stopped Lisa Marie Marsh, from Irlam ABC.
Sam Lowery, a winner on his debut on the Lambton Street show, also by way of a second-round stoppage, is also in action, along with Ben Henderson, another of Elite’s talented teenagers.
Boxing will start at 1pm.
