It’s the moment of truth for Savannah Marshall.
The Hartlepool middleweight takes on Dutch rival Nouchka Fontijn in Rio tonight - with an Olympic medal assured for the winner.
The pair face off at 7.15pm, with former World champion Marshall looking to upset the form book.
The Dutch boxer has won the last four contests between the two, including the World championship semi-final in May in Baku and last year’s European Games confrontation in the same city.
But Fontijn has yet to fight in Rio and could be a little ring rusty going into tonight’s bout.
Fontijn lost the World final to USA star Claresa Shields, who is a strong favourite for the Rio gold.
She starts her campaign tonight with a fight against Russia’s Ioraslava Iakushina.
Yesterday, Nicola Adams became the first British boxer to win two Olympic medals in 56 years when she beat Tetyana Kob to reach the semi-finals of the flyweight division.
