LISA Whiteside and Sandy Ryan have guaranteed England two medals at the women’s World Boxing Championships - now they are hoping they can box for gold in South Korea.
Whiteside reached the semi-finals in the 51kilo division with a convincing unanimous decision win over experienced Canadian Mandy Bujold in Jeje Island.
And 21-year-old Ryan continued her dream run in her first major international tournament, the Derby girl outpointing Romania’s Simone Sitar in the 64kilo division.
The semi-finals will take place on Sunday, with the England pair boxing in the second session which begins at 10am (UK time).
Whiteside will meet Terry Gordini of Italy at 10am with Ryan facing Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee around 11.15am.
