Boxing star Bradley Saunders wants to enjoy Burns night
SUCCESSFUL START: Bradley Saunders
BRADLEY Saunders is hoping the next step on his professional boxing ladder will be in Scotland.
Saunders was roared on by a 200-plus army of supporters when he beat Jason Nesbitt at London’s York Hall on Friday night.
His third-round stoppage win over the seasoned Birmingham campaigner thrilled not only the Saunders support in the capacity crowd but the viewers on BoxNation.
Saunders now hopes his success will earn him a rapid return to the ring and would “love” a spot on the Glasgow show headlined by Britain’s only world champion, Ricky Burns.
The interim WBO lightweight belt holder will face Namibia’s Paulus Moses at the Braehead Arena on March 10.
“I need to keep boxing, I need rounds,” Saunders told SportMail.
“I would like to get back in there in five weeks and build on what I did on Friday night.
“There’s a big world title fight for Ricky Burns up in Glasgow and I’d love to be on that show.
“That’s what I’d like but I’ll have to wait to see what my manager says.”
