IAN Blackwell was the hero as Durham pulled off a stunning 19-run victory over Australia A at Chester-le-Street.
The young Aussie side appeared to be cruising to victory when Liam Davis and Ed Cowan set about the victory target of 224 with confidence only for Blackwell to bowl out the tourists with a sensational spin spell of 7-52.
The breakthrough though came from opening bowler Ruel Brathwaite who had Cowan (40) caught and with the total still on 99 he had Michael Klinger taken by keeper Michael Richardson for a duck.
After being 99-0, the Aussies began to feel the pressure and Blackwell took the next seven wickets to fall.
The big breakthrough came when he had Cowan lbw for 62 as Australia stuttered to 111-4.
There was some resistance from George Bailey, who hit eight fours in a knock of 36, and former Test wicket-keeper Tim Paine (26no) but Blackwell was unstoppable.
Mitch Claydon had the final say when he dismissed Ali McDermott to give Durham a super win.
