HARTLEPOOL go into the final weekend of the NYSD Premier League season knowing they must win at Stokesley to have any hope of lifting the title.
Pool lost their top spot last weekend after they were crushed by bottom club Northallerton at Park Drive, while Marton won easily at home to Bishop Auckland.
Those results saw Pool drop to second spot, seven points behind leaders Marton.
Both rivals have difficult games – Pool travelling to an improving Stokesley while Marton visit Normanby Hall, who are without ex-Pool pro Jimmy Gunarathne, who has returned to Sri Lanka.
Pool’s task is not an easy one, but they could still win the league if results go their way.
Should Marton not win and gain less than 13 points, a Pool victory would see them crowned champions.
Pool, who include Michael Gough, could even draw and win the league, as long as they gain seven more points than Marton.
