MULTI-gifted sportsman Paul Braithwaite has been named as Hartlepool Sports Personality of the Year.
The Seaton Carew cricketer and footballer collected his trophy at the Hartlepool Sports Council awards tonight.
Braithwaite was the inspiration behind Seaton Carew’s first promotion to cricket’s North Yorkshire South Durham League.
The Hartlepool Sixth Form College student has become a regular in the England Schools U18 football side.
He received his award from Hartlepool Sports Council chairman David Young, fittingly, at Seaton Carew Sports and Social Club,
The 17-year-old has followed in the footsteps of Hartlepool greats like Paul Jennings, Savannah Marshall, Lindsay Johnson, Michael Hunter, Andrew Taylor, Amanda Coulson, Jemma Lowe and Graeme Storm as winners of the trophy.
Hartlepool HEAT Basketball Club were the club of the year and Hartlepool Sixth Form College Female Futsal side clinched the team of the year.
Seaton Carew Football club scooped two other prizes, Jess Coates was presented with the prestigious services to sport award and fellow 21-year-old, Kieron Cope, was named volunteer coach of the year.
